What personal data is collected and why
To facilitate the posting of strictly moderated comments on the site, only the minimum of information is required from visitors.
COMMENTS
When visitors leave comments on our site (which is only published if appropriate to the content and purpose of the site) the date shown in the comment form is collected and retained, also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from the visitor’s email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if the visitor is using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of the comment, the visitor’s profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the comment.
MEDIA
Other than their personal profile picture (see above) visitors may not upload media of any kind to the site.
COOKIES
If a visitor leaves a comment, they may opt-in to saving their name, email address and website in cookies. These are for convenience only and provided so that visitors do not have to fill in their details again should they subsequently decide to leave another comment.
Embedded content from other websites
This site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly. These websites may collect data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor visitor interaction with that embedded content, including tracing the visitor’s interaction with the embedded content if they have an account and are logged in to that website.
Data sharing and retention
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, and the comment, once published, remains published on this site. The retention of the related metadata is so that we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. This is likely to include your name, address, email address, and contact number, in order to allow us to send you purchased products. All users can at any time log in to view, edit, or delete their personal information (with the exception that they cannot change their username). Our website administrators are the only other people who can also view and edit that information.
This site complies with strict regulation on data protection in the EU and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. (This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.) As we do not have access to our customers’ or visitor’s financial information (all payments going through secure third party routes), no such information is at any time accessible to or retained by us.
Data Protection
The security of this website is reviewed frequently and, if available, all plugins and other security implementations are updated. User information is at all times kept strictly private and is not used for any purpose other than the promotion of new publications.
The responsibility to protect data protection is taken very seriously and the trust and confidence of our visitors and members is valued and appreciated.
