Visit With Despair, a poem by Cormac Culkeen

A poem about one of those days when the world doesn’t feel like a friendly place, with a time-lapse video of nightfall over Galway Bay.

Listen to the poem recited by Cormac Culkeen in the video link below:

Visit With Despair

A bile sky dissolves towards its meaning of night
An Indian summer casts its heat in billows

Inside, curtains pull to bleak unlight
And the world is a churning horror
All the eyes are empty
All the lines are lies

Nothing left but to plant feet spent with tension,
Nerves pulsing wrack against themselves,
Wait out
These towering walls
Their searching lights
